Dr. Sandeep Chauhan is an alumni of IGMC, Shimla and completed his post-graduation (MD Medicine) from the prestigious Army Hospital (R &R), New Delhi. Thereafter he worked as senior resident (Hematology) at PGI, Chandigarh (2000-2003). After completing his senior residency, Dr Chauhan joined Govt. Med. College & Hospital, Chandigarh (2003-2009) as Assistant Professor (Internal Medicine with interest in Rheumatology and Haematology). At Govt. Med. College & Hospital, Chandigarh he developed an interest in rheumatology and has excelled in this branch.
Dr Chauhan did his Fellowship in Rheumatology from University of Liverpool, UK under world renowned rheumatologist Prof. R J Moots (Head of the Academic Rheumatology, Univ. of Liverpool, UK). During the fellowship Dr. Chauhan learned advanced aspects of rheumatology including use of Biologic therapy, conducting drug trials, and published papers. Impressed with the work, Dr. Chauhan was awarded Honorary Research Fellowship (2008-09). Thereafter Dr. Chauhan was recommended for and served as Rheumatologist at Nobles Hospital, UK (2009-11) where his dedication, knowledge and compassion won over the heart of his colleagues and patients. He was also respected amongst the junior faculty for his teaching skills. In 2011, Dr Chauhan decided to relocate to India.
Areas of Expertise:
Besides
being an expert in all types of rheumatological disorders like
rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, osteoporosis, connective tissue
disorders, vasculitis etc., he has attained special expertise in
Biologics in immunological diseases and was in-charge of
Biologics clinics Nobles Hospital, UK.
In
addition to rheumatology he has a vast
amount of experience in haematology and
internal medicine.
Publications, Research &
Training:
His contribution to academics and research work has been quite significant and has been recognised worldwide with more than 50 publications in international leading journals including NEJM, The Lancet, Am J Medicine, Am J Haematology, Oxford Rheumatology etc. He has also contributed chapters in books, besides presenting papers in national and international conferences. He was the organizing secretary of two conferences: "Rheumatology for Medical Students" and "Basic Haematology for Physicians". He has also been appointed reviewer for national and international journals.
He has
been actively involved in research and also successfully completed
two audits recently in UK: Biologics in Rheumatological diseases and
Intravenous Ibandronate in osteoporosis.
Dr.Chauhan has successfully completed training in Basic and Advanced
Life
Support from
the
UK organized by Resuscitation Council. Other major training workshops attended include Autoantibody
Workshop, SGPGI, Lucknow and HIV
Prevention and
Control.
Awards & Honours:
Dr
Chauhan was appointed Honorary Research Fellow, University of
Liverpool, UK (2008-9) for his brilliant academic work and
dedication to the profession.
In recognition of his services, he has also been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of Indian College of Physicians (FICP). Dr. Chauhan is also a Fellow of Indian Academy of Clinical Medicine (FIACM) and Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS).
He has
also earned letters of recommendation from British patients for being
compassionate to patients and dedication to work during his stay in
UK.

Dr Chauhan is an active member of Indian Rheumatology Association, Indian Society of Haematology, Indian Geriatric Society and Association of Physicians of India.
